Hotel WELLIES is a hotel in Nakakaruizawa. It is a 2-minute drive from Nakakaruizawa Station on the local line, a 7-minute drive from JR Karuizawa Station on the Shinkansen line and the adjacent outlet shopping mall, and a 3-minute drive from the popular Hoshino Resorts area in Karuizawa. Karuizawa is a small town at 1,000m above sea level, with a population of about 25,000, but this can increase to about 200,000 in the summer. The town is known as a high-end villa destination in Japan due to its climate and easy access from Tokyo. It has become increasingly popular in recent years, and many construction projects are being carried out, mainly for people moving from Tokyo. Karuizawa is the only growing city among Japan's regional cities, and is often referred to as "Tokyo's 24th ward". We often say "Tokyo with trees". It has great restaurants, a great museum, ski resorts, and one of the largest outlet malls in Japan. It's only an hour's bullet train ride from Tokyo. It's become more popular in recent years with more visitors from China and Asia in general. The steel-framed building was built as a hotel in 1991, and was completely renovated after the current owner purchased it in 2013. It can accommodate 21 people in 9 rooms (24 with sofa beds). There is one family room that can accommodate 4 people, and one room that can accommodate 3 people, so the income and expenditure is calculated based on 10.5 rooms. We used to clean the rooms ourselves, but finding staff was difficult, so we decided to outsource it to a local company. This cost is high, about 10% of our total income, so it may be better to hire two people full-time to clean the rooms, and an additional part-timer during peak periods.
